"For The Kids" is something we truly live by as Phi Mu women and members of Alpha Psi. It reminds us that everything we do has a bigger purpose. Multiple events held throughout the year help compel constant support and involvement with our philanthropies and other individual service work. Philanthropy is one of the strongest bonds between us and is one that will always define us!" -Taylor Kinnison, Philanthropy Director, Fall '15
Phi Mu provides a venue through which chapter members can contribute and give back to the community in more than one way. The money raised by Alpha Psi at Southeastern Louisiana University stays locally and is given to the New Orleans Children's Hospital.
Here at SLU, Phi Mu puts on, sponsors and participates in many events "For the Kids." In the fall, we put on "Phi Mu Phace Off", a dodgeball tournament in which all the proceeds go to CMNH. "Pie A Phi" is held during Homecoming Week, and students can pay one dollar to pie a Phi Mu of their choice in the face! The fall also contains national movements and fundraisers like Miracle Jeans Day in September and National Philanthropy Day in October.
In the Spring, different campus events like Rock N Roar give us a chance to raise money for the kids as well. Phi Mu Alpha Psi also sponsors and largely in part puts on Southeastern's Dance Marathon program!
The Alpha Psi chapter also raises money for Phi Mu Foundation. This benefits different national programs which help sisters in need and provide scholarships for collegiate members. Alpha Psi always has 100% participation in the foundation's M3 Campaign every March as well as exceeding expected fundraising by selling 50/50 raffle tickets for the whole month.
During the Spring 2017 semester, Alpha Psi proudly raised $15,736.33 for CMNH!
