Chapter History
The chapter was installed on June 2, 1962, by Adele Redditt Williamson, Alumnae Vice-President. There were twenty-three charter members including a nucleus of Gay Latimer Young, Alicia Wylie Lumsden and Judy Rae Jones Diano, who had withdrawn from a local sorority, Kappa Rho, to seek a national affiliation. Nine others pledged in January 1961. Originally, the chapter met in classrooms, with programs in the Student Union, and parties in the homes of alumnae and members. They moved into a Panhellenic suite in Carter Harris Residence Hall, and moved into the current residence located in the Greek Village on campus.
